Reducing Stock Outs - A Collaborative Challenge

Stock outs are an ongoing issue for the Australasian food, grocery and related industries and an outstanding opportunity to reduce costs and "grow the business". The seminar series, "Reducing 'Stock Outs' - A Collaborative Challenge", was developed following completion of the industry project and was a communication vehicle designed to help grocery and related industry trading partners reduce stock outs on shelf by "working together for total customer satisfaction".

PricewaterhouseCoopers, valuable contributors to the project, highlighted the benefits arising from the analysis of the replenishment process, organisational requirements and enabling systems to reduce stock outs. Case studies by leading retailers and manufacturers, Woolworths and Unilever in Sydney, Metcash and Procter & Gamble in Brisbane and Coles and Coca-Cola in Melbourne, and Auckland provided insight into current initiatives that are aimed at closing the 'collaboration gap'. Harris Boulton, Deputy Director AFGC and Manager, ECR Australasia provided an update on the key achievements of ECR Australasia in the 2 years since its inception.
