Accenture - Collaborative Planning Forecasting and Replenishment (September 2001)
Accenture presented a briefing as an introduction to the topic, happenings overseas and steps to get started, on what is becoming the next major focus in the pursuit of collaboration between trading partners. Procter and Gamble provided a manufacturers perspective on getting started with CPFR.
ECR Australasia, in its initial 2 years, has delivered a number of industry outcomes and reports that are recognised as value adding for the trading partners that implement them.
The work program has involved building blocks which are precursors to further collaborative activities, such as CPFR. The Accenture seminar highlighted E-commerce enablers such as product and message standards, data synchronisation (EANnet), plus processes such as demand forecasting, efficient replenishment and reducing out of stocks, category management and KPI development as ECRA work items that have incorporated the concepts on which CPFR depends.
The ECR Australasia Board has specifically addressed CPFR in Board discussions and papers and considered relevant steps for it as an industry body. ECRA has recognised that here as in Europe and the US, trading partners are exploring some or all of the CPFR concepts, but they are doing so individually rather than on an industry basis.
The ECRA Board sees an important, initial role to encourage awareness and support for CPFR and were pleased to lend endorsement to the seminar.
