Barcode Guidelines
Grocery Industry Guidelines for the Numbering and Bar Coding of Trade Items not Sold at Retail Point of Sale
|
Start Date: |
August 2000 |
Business Background
As the Industry Numbering Association, EAN in Australia and New Zealand maintain the disciplines of the numbering and barcoding system, identifying any inconsistencies with global (EAN.UCC) specifications and noting and changes required in the local industry guidelines.
Objective
During 2000, it was agreed there were divergences between the current Australian Grocery guidelines and Global guidelines being developed by EAN.UCC and the Global Commerce Initiative (GCI), and that these should be identified and rectified.
These were worked on and expressed as an Australasian update and so are suitable for and recognised by, both Australian and New Zealand Grocery trade members.
Whilst to be published as an industry report, primary distribution will be through the EAN Australia and EAN New Zealand websites.
