2001 Australasian Grocery Industry Tracking Study
|
Start Date: |
August 2001 |
Business Background
Following successful Australian studies in 1995, 1998 and 1999, ECR Australasia has commissioned PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to conduct the 2001 Australasian Grocery Industry ECR Tracking Study. The Board of ECR Australasia believed it to be an appropriate time to conduct the next tracking study, covering suppliers, wholesalers and retailers in Australia and New Zealand, on the basis that;
- it has been over two years since ECR progress was last reviewed in Australia and over six since the original 'size of the prize' benchmarking was completed,
- an ECR tracking study has not previously been conducted in New Zealand,
- progress against maturity targets set in 1999 can be measured,
- significant progress has been made around the world and the Global ECR Scorecard provides the industry with a reliable tool to facilitate global benchmarking.
The tracking study will be completed through 'verified self assessment' using the global ECR scorecard. Participants complete the scorecard in the 'non-verified' section of the database, via the Internet website (www.globalscorecard.net). PwC consultants then verify the self-assessment, typically via a telephone call, and the data is transferred into the verified section of the database.
Objective?
The Tracking Study objective is to measure and highlight the state of ECR maturity of companies and the Australasian market overall and by comparison using the Global Scorecard, with best practice elsewhere.
