Joe Berry Australian Retail Industry Executive Award
The 2011 ‘Australian Retail Executive’ award opened for entries on 1st November 2010 and to-date we have a record number of registrations. The award has been lifted by the return of Coles as a sponsor with great internal support from their Corporate team. We also welcome Cerebos, Sunrice, British American Tobacco, Strikeforce and PharmaCare onto our growing sponsor list. Retail World sponsor through advertising and printing and have been an invaluable resource.
The Award is essay based and entries for 2011 will be required to submit a 1600-1800 word essay on a choice of six set topics. The submitted essays are assessed by the judging panel and the top seven entries are invited to present to the panel in June 2011. The panel is Chaired by Bernie Brookes, Myer, and includes judges from Woolworths, Nielsen, 3M, ACP Magazines, Goodman Fielder Home Ingredients, Simplot, Coca Cola and Campbell Soups. Coles will join this panel for 2011 and beyond. The repartee between Bernie, John Durkin and James Aylen on the day should make for some challenging moments for the contestants.
The Award is for young retail executives (35 and under) and is the only forum where they can pit their strengths and industry knowledge against the rest of the industry. The winners are people who have both knowledge and passion for the industry. For recent winners, Kelly Willingale, Brett Griffiths and Kerryn Bullpitt the career path has gain momentum rapidly after their win. The winner each year is sponsored on an overseas study tour. Kelly chose to attend an ECRA Conference in Germany during her tour.
The ASMCA is delighted to link the Joe Berry Retail Industry Executive Award to the ECRA and to promote the value of consumer connection through the award promotions. For 2012 we will include an ECRA Topic in the award program. If you would like to join our sponsor list please contact me, we have plenty of time to include you in the 2011 program.
